Qatar's World Cup 2022 - Al Janoub Stadium

Qatar will be hosting the 2022 World Cup at the new Al Janoub Stadium. Designed by world-renowned architect Zaha Hadid, the stadium has a capacity of 40,000. Its futuristic design was inspired by traditional dhow boats, which once plied the waters of Qatar. It is slated to become a local community venue after the competition is finished. It is expected to open for play in December 2019.

Al Janoub Stadium

The stadium is situated in the heart of Al Wakrah, the seafaring municipality where the 2022 FIFA World Cup will be held. It will also host community events during non-event days. Al Janoub Stadium is sure to be a memorable World Cup venue. And as the heart of the Al Wakrah community, the stadium will also be a place for visitors to enjoy local food and shops.

The stadium is a sustainable project that will contribute to the local community as well as the host city. It has achieved a Class A sustainability rating by the Global Sustainability Assessment System (GSAS). The stadium uses proprietary technology to cool itself and is thus usable all year round. In addition, half of the seats are modular and can be transported to another country if necessary. Several facilities will be constructed around Al Janoub Stadium, including bike paths, running and horse riding tracks, gyms, and parkland.

The stadium is a marvel of modern technology. The construction team used a curvilinear design and minimal glass to keep the temperatures cool inside. The temperature inside the stadium is a relatively comfortable 64.4 degrees Fahrenheit, whereas the average on the field is a much higher 68 degrees. With a constant breeze throughout the stadium, temperatures inside the stadium are controlled and the players can stay cool and comfortable.

Qatar's Al Janoub Stadium is the first tournament venue to be built from scratch. The stadium is set to host matches from the quarter-finals to the final. The stadium is located 60 kilometers outside of Doha and is best accessed by taxi or public transport. The venue is located in the city of Al Rayyan, which is a suburb of Doha. There are several hotels nearby, but if you plan to visit the World Cup 2022, it's advisable to book a hotel in the city beforehand.

Qatar has a new stadium being built in the Education City area. It is located 7 kilometers outside Doha and will open in June 2020. The complex geometric pattern on the stadium's sides will reflect light and filter it, representing a diamond in the desert. Interestingly, a large number of the stadium's seats will be donated to other stadiums in developing countries. This is a very thoughtful gesture, and a great way to show Qatar's commitment to the sustainability of the World Cup.
